What and how will we eat in the future? And how do we imagine this future now? Co-creating speculative scenarios with soon-to-be gastronomers gives us an insight into the current needs and interests of the youth and gives them an active role within the discourse of future food.
In collaboration with Laura Fellerer and Benjamin Amiel. Part of the trustmaking.eu project Soil Kitchen with Elina Kränzle, Sebastian Hafner, Veronika Hackl,Thomas Romm with Lucia Di Bella and Nikolas Kurz and their students from hlMW9 Michelbeuern.
When we think about food, we think about what we eat, how we eat and where we eat. We question ourselves how the future of food evolves in times of climate crisis, new technologies and social changes? Which food traditions will be kept or will vanish? Through speculating possible scenarios while dining together, we want to open up the conversation about the future of food and today's practices.
Together with culinary students from HLMW9 we imagine and co-create realistic and abstract visions to challenge the status-quo, current trends and predictions. They, as essential actors in the future, show us their perspectives, their needs and their interests.
In collaboration with the Trustmaking project the teenagers will create a ‘farm to fork’ dinner at Zukunftshof Wien, where they showcase their skills and dishes they personally relate to. While dining, the guests' viewpoints will be challenged through experiencing the students’ speculations sensorly.
Stimulated through food and new thoughts, the participants should go home with new questions about what they, and especially what the youth wants and how that impacts the future.
